Sometimes the kindest thing for your mouth is a clean, careful goodbye. When a tooth can't be saved, removing it well — comfortably, and with a plan for what's next — protects everything around it.
When extraction is the right call
Severe decay, cracks below the gumline, advanced gum disease, and hopeless infections can put a tooth beyond rescue. We never extract a savable tooth, and we'll show you the imaging and reasoning — the decision is made with you, not for you.
Comfort, managed properly
Modern anesthetic makes extraction far calmer than its reputation. You'll be thoroughly numb before anything begins, you'll know what to expect at each step, and you'll leave with clear aftercare instructions and someone to call if anything feels off.
The plan for the gap matters most
An unplanned gap lets neighboring teeth drift and bite forces shift. Before extraction day, we'll talk through what comes next — a dental implant, a bridge, a partial, or intentionally nothing — so the space is a decision, not an accident.

When does a tooth need to be extracted?+
Severe decay, a crack below the gumline, advanced gum disease, or an infection that cannot be cleared. We never extract a tooth that can be saved.
Will it hurt?+
You are fully numb before anything starts. Sedation is available if you are anxious.
Can I get an extraction the same day?+
For genuine emergencies, yes. Call 817-926-1300; urgent cases are triaged by phone.
What should I do afterward?+
You leave with written aftercare instructions and a number to call if anything feels off. Most soreness is managed with over-the-counter medication.
What replaces the tooth?+
A dental implant, a bridge, a partial denture, or, for some back teeth, nothing. We go through the trade-offs before the extraction so you are not deciding under pressure.
Do you remove wisdom teeth?+
Ask when you call; the answer depends on the tooth's position, which we check on imaging. Some cases are referred to an oral surgeon.
