Porcelain Veneers

A white, attractive smile makes a great first impression! In fact, according to a study by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, people with a beautiful smile are considered more intelligent, friendly, and successful. If you’ve considered braces, bonding, or teeth whitening to improve your smile, consider porcelain veneers. Handcrafted, custom-designed porcelain veneers address tooth color, shape, size, alignment, and overall appearance. So, instead of having multiple cosmetic procedures, veneers may be exactly what you need.

One Procedure Does It All
Veneers usually require two clinical visits after the initial consultation. At the first visit, Dr. Parham will prepare your teeth for the veneers, take a digital impression, then secure temporary veneers. At our dental lab, a ceramist will create your veneers using durable aesthetic porcelain and following Dr. Parham’s design. In a week or so, your final veneers will arrive and you will return to our office, and we’ll remove your temporary veneers. Dr. Parham will then permanently attach the final restorations onto your teeth. He’ll assess the fit and check your occlusion, then make adjustments if necessary. You’ll leave this visit with your gorgeous new smile intact.

Common Questions

Although veneers are often made of porcelain, which is generally considered to be a fragile material, they are quite durable after they are bonded to the teeth. If you take good care of your veneers – by brushing and flossing as directed and using common sense when you bite into things, for example – you can expect them to last up to a decade or so. Your provider will give you detailed instructions on how to maintain your veneers so that you can make every effort possible to maximize their lifespan.

Veneers are usually made of porcelain, although they may be made of composite resin materials as well. Porcelain is ideal because it shares many optical qualities with biological tooth enamel, giving veneers made of this material a lifelike appearance. The shade of the veneers can also be tailored to match your natural teeth, making it nearly impossible to detect a tooth fitted with a veneer from one without.

Veneers are highly versatile devices, and they are quite effective at concealing a variety of aesthetic defects, such as deeply stained teeth that do not respond to other tooth whitening treatments. In addition to hiding stains on teeth, veneers can also be used to cover up cracks and chips in teeth. They may also be used in order to create the appearance of proper alignment in a group of teeth that are slightly crooked, as well as make an undersized tooth look proportionate with the rest of the smile.

The cost of veneers will depend on a number of factors specific to the patient’s case, such as the number of veneers that are desired and the design of the veneers. The cost of your treatment will also include related procedures, such as preparing the teeth for veneer placement, as well as any imaging that is needed for your case. Our practice accepts a variety of forms of payment for your convenience, and we will work with you to help you fit this expense into your budget so that you can get the smile of your dreams.
