Porcelain Veneers: A Versatile Cosmetic Treatment Option
Porcelain veneers offer a versatile treatment option that can remedy multiple dental maladies. Cosmetic dentistry is no longer a luxury enjoyed by just a few; a consultation with our dentist will reveal to you the many advantages and possibilities achievable with porcelain veneers.
Resolvable Dental Problems
Veneers are very thin shells that become a permanent, cosmetic solution for:
Deep dental stain … While other methods may fail to eliminate intrinsic dental stain, porcelain veneers can improve the appearance of one or multiple teeth that are stained or discolored.
Chipped teeth … Although a small chip may be corrected with bonding material, a bigger chip or a broken tooth often requires something more extensive.
Uneven, worn, or irregularly shaped dentition … Worn down teeth or ones that are formed differently from neighboring teeth can ruin your smile. Veneers are made to match surrounding, healthy teeth.
Unwanted gaps between teeth … Those spaces virtually disappear once veneers are cemented into place.
How Exactly Do Veneers Work?
Once you and your dentist have determined which teeth are to be treated, a small amount of enamel will be removed from the front of those teeth. This is done so that when veneers are placed, you will enjoy a symmetrical appearance.
Impressions are taken and sent to the dental lab for veneers to be fabricated. Upon readiness, you will return to have them tried in. Adjustments can be made at this time so that they will fit perfectly.
In as little as three dental visits over a few weeks, one or all of your cosmetic dental deficiencies can be resolved.
Caring for veneer treated teeth requires nothing special. You will brush and floss as normal. You will likely be advised to avoid biting into hard or sticky foods. They don’t have to be eliminated, just eaten by cutting into pieces before consumption. Don’t bite your nails or use teeth to open packages.
